Boy, it’s rather quiet in here…

Hello!

My job has slowed down recently so it’s time to catch up a bit on WHBikes! I have a few bike projects to update with, but I first though I would share some bicycle related photos over the past few months. I hope my readers are also getting out there and getting some riding in.

Having a cup of coffee with my buddy Eddie and his Bike Friday.

Riding in the rain has always been one of my favorite activities.  When dressed appropriately, it’s a great and refreshing feeling to be racing and splashing through the wet roads.  Breathing in the cold air while you gain speed and knowing you don’t have to be stuck in a vehicle to get from one place to another really does it for me.

It's already mid-May and it's still raining here in the Bay Area. One of my favorite things to do is to ride in the rain (when dressed appropriately).

Spokeland is an up and coming co-op that has all the right intentions for the bicycle community in Oakland.

Spokeland hosts "Love Your Bike Day" in Mosswood Park. Bike lovers unite to teach and give tips on bicycle tuning and adjustments.

The Cupertino Bike Swap Meet /  Dim Sum ride was a great success.  The incentive to buy cheap bike parts and eat delicious dim sum really attracted a lot of new faces from the fixed gear forum (even though most of us were on geared bikes).

The beginning of the ride. Cruising down 17th St. in the Mission headed towards the Bay Trail to go down the peninsula to Cupertino for the annual bike swap meet.

My old Sidi Dominator 4′s were one size too small.  They were so small to the point that I had to curl my toe slightly in order to wear them.  I upgraded, to say the least.  The Sidi Dominator 6′s are a vast improvement.  Not only did I buy the correct size, but the shoe is lighter with a stiffer carbon fibre sole, Velcro strap closures with ratchets built in and rubber replaceable soles to make the shoes a lot more walkable.  Additionally, Sidi also added a better heel cup retention system on the rear.

New kicks! Sidi Dominator 6's. Argyle is always a must.

Even though cities like Portland have adopted green lanes and green boxes for years  now, San Francisco just recently got its first green lanes and green box.  This is a really big step in the right direction for San Francisco and will make bicycling much safer in the city.  Lots of props to San Francisco Bicycle Coalition for pushing these initiatives through.  It took a lot of effort dealing with the bureaucracy, but you guys really managed to do it.

A portion of Market Street in San Francisco recently became green. Biking down Market on Bike to Work Day 2010.

Bicycle carousel at Oakland's Bike Away From Work Party.

Ebisu panda shot down Hillegass in Berkeley.

The beginning of the Oakland Bike Party. Meeting at Frank Ogawa Plaza.

A few more bicycle projects on the horizon to write about.  Stay tuned.
